We're Thinking About You, Stacie

The phone call came in... it wasn't totally unexpected: She'd been fired.

OK... so she said, "Laid Off." That's a bit like saying he "passed away" instead of "he died" - a bit easier to say and to hear, I guess.

But there she was: several years busting her butt for this large arts institution and she was out. Like yesterday's garbage. Off to fend for herself.

It's never easy, and what's a corporation supposed to do? Does it go down just to keep all its people working for a while longer, or does it throw good people away who could help it grow on the hope that life and success will magically reignite it?

Time will tell for this organization and my daughter will bounce back: she's that type of person - talented, hard-working, won't take "no" for an answer.

But it's tough out there. This just really hit home when I got the call: http://WhereDidTheDreamGo.com

It always hurts. Just more so when it's your own child.
